Established on September 22, 2020, Hope Foundation Uganda was born from the shared vision of a diverse collective of humanitarian practitioners—both nationals and refugees—driven by a unified purpose: to uplift, empower, and create sustainable opportunities for refugee and host communities across Uganda.

As a proudly women-led organization grounded in lived experience, Hope Foundation brings both empathy and expertise to the forefront of its work. Its programs are thoughtfully designed around key pillars that drive meaningful, long-term impact. Through advancing girls’ education and empowering young mothers, the Foundation works to close persistent gender gaps and expand access to inclusive, quality learning. Its focus on functional adult literacy equips individuals with essential knowledge and practical life skills, enabling them to participate more actively in their communities and economies. At the same time, its commitment to peaceful co-existence fosters trust, dialogue, and social cohesion between refugee and host populations, strengthening the fabric of shared communities.

In 2022, this commitment to innovation and impact received global recognition when Hope Foundation was honored as a UNHCR Innovation Grant Winner—an acknowledgment of its forward-thinking and community-centered protection initiatives for refugee women and girls.

Today, Hope Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to drive lasting, transformative change—advancing progress through purposeful programs, meaningful partnerships, and a continued dedication to empowering lives and building resilient communities.
